Fr. Rafael Capó
Executive Director of the Southeast Pastoral Institute (SEPI)
Fr. Rafael Capó is a priest of the Archdiocese of Miami. Born in Puerto Rico and ordained a priest in 1996, Fr. Capó is the Director of the US Catholic Bishops Southeast Regional Office for Hispanic Ministry and its Southeast Pastoral Institute (SEPI).
With degrees in Education, Administration and Supervision, he has worked as Biology teacher, campus minister, vocations director, and school president. In Mexico and Italy, he ministered to street children and immigrant youth. With a Licentiate degree in Systematic Theology and a Doctorate in Practical Liturgical Theology he teaches Theology at the graduate level. He participates in all major organizations of Hispanic Ministry and serves the US Church in the coordination of this ministry.
Fr. Capó is a member of the USCCB’s Leadership Team for the National Encuentro of Hispanic Ministry and is also a member of the World Youth Day National Advisory Team. He serves as Advisor to the National Network of Hispanic Youth and Young Adult Ministry (La Red) and is actively present in social media with an emphasis in ministry to young people and a calling to fitness of body, mind, and spirit. Fr. Capó is a Papal Missionary of Mercy by appointment of Pope Francis.
